ANHLC Board Members at the 2011 AGM
The 2012 Annual General Meeting of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses & Learning Centres, to be held on:
Monday 12 November 2012, 1.30-2.45pm at the Multicultural Hub,
506 Elizabeth St
There are twelve members of the ANHLC Board plus the President. Board terms are for two years. The constitution states that as far as possible there will be eight (8) metropolitan and five (5) rural members of the Board. (Please see below for a list of current Board members).
Nominations are called for six (6) vacancies on the ANHLC Board (only three existing members are eligible to re-nominate). This year the Board is particularly seeking nominations from people with skills and experience in the following areas:
- Business Planning and Development
- Change Management
- Fundraising
- Financial Management skills
ANHLC particularly encourages nominations from Networks currently not represented on the Board.
Staff, committees of management members and volunteers are eligible to nominate.
ANHLC reimburses all Board members for travel to and from the monthly Board meeting, held on the fourth Monday of the month from 10am – 2pm. It may also be possible for Board members to teleconference into meetings in the near future.
After the AGM, a brief Board meeting will take place to elect Office Bearers. An orientation meeting will be held on Monday 3 December 2012 to induct new Board members. Any person nominating for the Board is strongly encouraged to be available for this meeting.
Please return nomination forms to ANHLC by Friday 26 October 2012. Forms are attached below.
As per the ANHLC Constitution, in the event that there are more nominations than vacancies and a vote is required, you will have the option of voting online prior to the AGM.
ANHLC is managed by a voluntary Board of Management, responsible for controlling and managing the business and affairs of ANHLC. The Board consists of a president and a maximum of 12 and minimum of 8 other full members. Where possible eight of the Board members will be from metropolitan organisations and five will be from rural Victoria.
Each Board member holds office for a term of two years, which ceases at the conclusion of the annual general meeting. Board members are eligible for election to the Board for a total of three consecutive terms.
2012 Board members are:
| President | Jan Simmons |
| Vice President | Ron Moore |
| Treasurer | Sandra Anderson |
| Public Officer / Secretary | Elain Bakker |
| Ordinary Board Members | Philippa Caris |
ANHLC welcomes Board nominations from people with a commitment to develop the Association and the Neighbourhood House and Learning Centre Sector. Staff, committee of management members and volunteers are welcome to nominate. It is not necessary to have spent years in the sector to nominate for the Board; ANHLC welcomes a mix of perspectives from both newcomers and old hands. The only criteria for Board eligibility is that the nominee represent a full financial member of ANHLC.
If you or your organisation would like to refer a member to be part of the ANHLC Board download and complete the attached Referral Card and return it to ANHLC. A formal call for nominations takes place in October, prior to the AGM each year, but ANHLC welcomes interest from the sector all year round.
