The ESPSE, SCHADS and the Childrens Services Awards in the NH&LC sector

If your House/Centre/Network is not signed onto one of the NH&LC sector collective agreements (07, 08 or 2010) or any other agreement your pay and conditions are governed by the award system. The applicable awards are the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services (SCHADS), the Educational Services Post Secondary Education (ESPSE) and the Children’s Services Awards 2010 (these replace the SACS VIC, PACCT & Children’s Services Awards respectively). See below for copies of the awards and current pay tables. The modern awards are subject to phasing in arrangements.

Pay tables for the SCHADS and  the ESPSE awards reflecting the National Wage Case July 2012 have been produced by Jobs Australia and are attached below. These pay tables are effective from the first full pay period on or after 1/7/2012.

The SCHADS Award pay table adjusted for the first instalment of the Equal Remuneration Order (ERO) has been produced by Jobs Australia and is attached below. This pay table is effective from the first full pay period on or after 1/12/2012. This adjustment is only applicable to the SCHADS Award.

The Children’s Services Awards 2010 pay table reflecting the National Wage Case July 2012 will be available from Jobs Australia soon. It will be published here as soon as it is distributed to ANHLC. The Children's Services paytable attached below is effective from July 2011.

The modern SCHADS award classifications come into effect 1 July 2012. From this date the old Vic SACS award levels eg SACS CD Worker Class 1, 2a, 2b and 3 with increments 1-10 commonly used in Neighbourhood Houses, will be translated to the SCHADS Award levels eg SCHADS Social and Community Services worker Levels 1-8 pay points 1-3 will be most relevant in the NH&LC sector.

All SCHADS employers must translate their staff classifications to the modern award classfications. This means making sure position descriptions are up to date and current classifications are accurate. Position descriptions must then be assessed against the modern award classifications before settling on the appropriate new classification. This process should involve consultation with all relevant staff members.

For further information on the award modernisation process and updating your position description see ANHLC resource papers here.
