NH&LC Sector Awards and Pay Tables
What do we do if we are not signed onto the Collective Agreement and Use the Award System?
If your House/Centre is not signed onto a NH&LC sector collective agreement (07, 08 or 2010) or any other agreement your pay and conditions are governed by the awards. The new modern awards are the SCHADS, the Educational Services Post Secondary Education and the Children’s Services Awards 2010 (these replace the SACS VIC, PACCT & Children’s Services Awards respectively). See below for copies of the awards. The modern awards are subject to phasing in arrangements.
The National Wage Cases and the phasing in arrangements for the modern awards affect the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services (SCHADS), Educational Services Post Secondary Education and Children’s Services Awards 2010 in various ways. For further information see the Jobs Australia Guide to Pay Increases 2010 attached below.
Pay tables for the SCHADS, the Educational Services Post Secondary Education and the Children’s Services Awards 2010, reflecting the National wage Case July 2011 have been produced by Jobs Australia and are attached below. These pay tables are effective from the first full pay period on or after 1/7/2011.
The SCHADS pay tables are based upon the pre-modern award and simply apply the 2011 federal minimum wage increase of 3.4% per week. The SCHCADS award allowances are also included.
These pay tables apply to all employees (regardless of their commencement date) where the SACS VIC (Federal or Transitional respectively) Awards previously applied.
Please note: The pay rates that appear in Part 4, clauses 15, 16 and 17 of the modern SCHCADS award do not come into effect in full until 1 July 2014. From 1 February 2012, phasing in towards these new rates of pay and classifications will commence.
The Children's Services Award 2010 rates of pay are derived by translating classifications from the pre-modern award to the applicable classification under the modern award. These translations are indicative only and further advice should be sought if in doubt. The rates of pay incorporate the 2011 federal minimum wage increase of 3.4% per week and the second stage of phasing in (60% of the transitional difference between the old award and the modern award as at 1 January 2010). The Children’s Services Award 2010 allowances are also included. This pay table applies to all employees (regardless of their commencement date) where the Children’s Services (Victoria) Award previously applied.
The Educational Services (Post Secondary Education) pay tables apply to organisations that are transitioning staff from the PACCT Award to the modern Educational Services (Post Secondary Education) Award (ES PSE).
The rates of pay are based on the pre-modern award classifications as they phase in towards the modern award classifications. The method is to either add or subtract a proportion of the difference between the rates of pay of the pre-modern award (PACCT) and the modern award as at 1 January 2010 from the modern award rates as at 1 July 2011 (which incorporate the 2011 federal minimum wage increase of 3.4% per week. Weekly wages are then rounded to the nearest 10 cents. The ES PSE award allowances are also included.
