Open Source Software is community built and maintained software that is available free to download. An advantage of Open Source Software is that the software is built with a community focus, and for widely used packages there is a lot of community-written documentation on how to use them. In addition, there are forums where you can ask questions about the software, and the users of the software can report bugs or request features for future releases.
