Save Occasional Childcare - Rally June 30
Rally on the steps of Parliament on Thursday 30 June from 1-2pm to call on the state government to reinstate funding for occasional child care services.
Bring kids, banners and enthusiasm! Be there 12.50pm. The bigger the crowd the greater the impact. We hope to have TV cameras and other media, so it’s an opportunity to really make our mark on this issue.
It is the last day that Parliament is sitting before a long winter recess, and we want to make the most of all the momentum our members have built up through the media and lobbying local representatives.
We have invited Minister Wendy Lovell to receive the parliamentary petitions on the day, so please post them to ANHLC by COB this Friday 24 June 2011, or drop them off in the office early next week. If the Minister is not available to receive the petitions, the Shadow Minister Jenny Mikakos will. See below for a copy of th petition if you haven't already signed one.
If you are on Facebook, you can RSVP to the event here
ANHLC will send out a media release the day before, calling for a ‘hero’ to save occasional child care services - an open invitation to both the state and federal governments.
For banner ideas and slogans, see here
Focus on slogans that describe the importance of occasional care, e.g. ‘Occasional child care is good for my health’, ‘Kids love occasional care’, ‘Don’t let our services close’, etc. Feel free to run any ideas past us or with your colleagues on Facebook.
Pass this on to everyone who uses and supports Neighbourhood House Childcare.
